Daily physical exercises combat a sedentary lifestyle

Health issues, caused by sitting for 8 hours at the office, can be avoided with regular physical exercises.

One of the most effective staff motivation methods, active sport, is gaining popularity in the work environment, as an instrument to maintain good staff health and to increase productivity.

– advise scientists, after conducting a research which found a link between prolonged sitting and the risk of premature cardiac arrest. The research is published in the medical magazine The Lancet.

Professor Ulf Ekelund came to the conclusion, that at least 1 hour of physical activity per day – like jogging or cycling – can lower the health risks, caused by sitting for 8 hours every day.

Development of heart disease or diabetes is associated with a lack of physical exercise and is associated with more than five million deaths per year. For this reason, Professor Ekelund advised employers to encourage the various types of physical activities in employees, following the example of some Scandinavian companies that provide 1-2 hours of workday exercise for workers. Besides improving health, employers also increase staff motivation, creating a relaxed and harmonious work environment.
